Samsung has just announced their first entry into the tablet computer category with a 7-inch device called the
galaxy tab. the device runs on google’s android 2.2 operating system. the device has an lcd display and weighs only 0.8 pounds, much less than its main competitor, the apple ipad. the galaxy tab runs off a cortex a8 1.0-ghz processor and comes with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera to capture photos and video. the device uses 3g, wi-fi and bluetooth connectivity and also supports push e-mail. Samsung will launch the device in europe this september and in north america and asia later this fall.
